This male Sparrowhawk has been visiting my garden on and off for a while. A few weeks ago he posed close to the feeders and very near an empty nest box
last week on the feeder branch
and this evening he took a Greenfinch
this is a stunning bird to have around the place
not too long after he had fed a very large female flew over.... obviously weighing up tomorrows menu.
It is always appreciated to see peoples comments on my posts. I may not always be able to respond, but I do try to visit other peoples websites and leave appropriate comments when I visit. As always Thank you for visiting Bfbsoutdoorramblings. Dave
Superb images Dave... a beautiful bird to see.
ReplyDeletewow! awesome series you got here, good stuff. beautiful bird!
ReplyDeleteKinda' hard to sit by and watch predators around your garden birds -- but it's part of the cycle of life I guess.
ReplyDeleteWow! Very cool images. I use to hate hawks...but now I appreciate them. They have a right to eat and are so very beautiful...as your photos show.
ReplyDeleteI guess he has to eat too but treating a feeder like a free take-away is not quite fair, vermin like mice are also edible . . .
ReplyDeleteGreat series of shots.
Stunning series. We have a Sparrowhawk that visits our garden very occasionally but not had any views as good as these.
ReplyDeletePoor Greenfinch, but what great captures!
