Fridays Fence

Behind the fence is Trentabank Reservoir, Macclesfield Forest, North West England.

This is the largest of four reservoirs in the forest area, it is also home to a breeding colony of Cormorants and Grey Herons.

The sign explains the Herons breeding, nesting and behaviour and is part of the Cheshire Wildlife Trust and the water company (United Utilities)

  1. A great resource to have handy to watch birds at. Our reservoirs are all securely fenced off, no fishing and no possibility of birdwatching either.

  3. Such a beautiful place! I love the lighting in these shots. Just wondered, is fishing allowed there? And if so, what kind of fish do you have?

  4. Hi Rose

Fishing is not allowed on this reservoir, but is allowed on two of the four in the area. One is supported by the Prince Albert (a pub in Macclesfield) fishing society. Regarding the fish I thing it is mainly Carp.

  17. Hi Dave! Thanks for sharing this lovely place! Your photos have captured its beauty well! I also enjoy watching the herons nest. At our local wetlands, many pairs of Great Blues nest (right near a popular road) each year.
