Purple Sandpiper

A whistle stop visit to the Wirral to see these lovely small waders.
 
Three resting Ruddy Turnstone and two more lively Purple Sands

  5. the purple sandpiper is a species I´ve never seen. I doubt it comes to Sweden. Both birds in your shot is gorgeous. :)

  6. Wonderful! Usually the purples have their noses tucked and the ruddys are snooping around. These threw me for a loop for a second. Hmmm...the purple sandpipers look dark and the ruddies look light. Then I realized I had them backwards.
