Green Woodpecker

After bagging the American Buff Bellied Pipit a few weeks ago, a quick stop at Burton Mere Wetlands to try for the usually reliable Green Woodpeckers. I have often seen a pair foraging for ants on the approach fields and sure enough one of the pair was were I would expect to see it.

These images were taken from the car .

Thank you Dave, it may be a bird YOU can usually see but I have not ever even seen a picture of a green woodpecker before, so thank you again.

Really nice Dave. It's one bird that I have struggled to get a decent picture of. Must try harder.

Nice! We don't have Green Woodpeckers on this side of the "pond." Not that I know of, anyway.

I have only seen this guy on blogs, but he is so unusual I'd recognize him if I ever saw it in real...the eye is really something. Besides the wonderful coloring.
