Hibernation over... Spring has sprung

one of the resident Field Mice made an appearance this week when it turned up on the bird feeders. We have probably two families resident in the garden of which one lives under the back door step. The Field Mouse is sightly bigger than a Blue Tit and it made sure that it had first serving as the Blue Tits queued up waiting for it to leave. Spring is here

What an adorable little creature. Occasionally I have Deer Mice in my backyard and as long as they don't go in the house we remain very good friends. Soon the chipmunks will come out of hibernation and they are real characters, become very friendly and will feed from the hand. The snow is slowly receding but there is a way to go yet, the auguries are good, however. The local farmers are already tapping the Sugar Maples for sap and the smoke curls up from the sugar shacks. Soon we will be enjoying of of life's great pleasures - fresh maple syrup! Gotta get Miriam to make blueberry pancakes!
