A day at the races

Cartmel Saturday 29th August 2015

A day at Cartmel races with Liz, Kim, Steve and Michael. A first time for me at this very picturesque course, Dry stone walls as a backdrop keeps the feel of being a northerly and rural course.

A few winners, plenty of losers, a lovely picnic and a beer or two all made for a great day out.

I have neveer been to a big race meeting and I enjoyed seeing all the actions through your photographs. The horses are so handsone and the jockeys outfits so colouful.

Cheers Margaret.
Indeed it is a colourful day out and you must try it one day. Pick a small course such as Cartmel on a Bank Holiday meeting and its a real family affair.

That horse looks as peeved as you would expect of an equine having a bucket of cold water thrown up its bottom

Simon, I would have to agree...... Not a pleasant thought!

It did get a few buckets over its back to start with so I guess it knew what was coming next.
