Lesser Redpoll - December 2013

Pt 1

They are back in good numbers, 18 today. Hopefully the 40+ will be a daily occurrence as the weather turns colder during the winter.

Makes winter far more bearable with these fellas about the garden.

I'm impressed by your redpoll count (not to say your pictures) Dave. This year I have heard and seen very few but maybe they are on their way now?

strange, I had to look up the name Lesser Redpoll but can´t find it in Swedish. The one we have is obviously Common Redpoll. Yours lok more bownish I think.

You are right about the Long Tailed Tit. I live in Sweden. :)

Beautiful little birds and I would find a winter without birds very hard to put up with! Great photos.

Beautiful little birds. They are having red color on their head which looks like cap for them...

Hi Dave. Lovely little bird. I wish I had them coming to my feeder.

Such little sweet birds all. Sometimes I do miss my winter feeder birds (from back when we lived in Oregon). The birds here really don't NEED me.! But they keep on giving anyway.

What pretty little guys (and gals)! You were right about the post in my post. It's just outside my window and most birds end up perching on it for some reason!
