More Faces of Angkor

Our Guide at Siem Reap (you have to be guided) was Nak. Great company and knew a few tricks to get the best out of the trip.
One of those was to make sure we got the nose to nose picture......

Angkor Wat (Cambodia 2017)

Liz and I eventually got to visit the incredible Angkor Wat temple complex in Cambodia. We toured Southern Vietnam through the Mekong Delta and up into Cambodia. We encountered many highlights but ultimately the visit to Siem Reap and the ancient city of Angkor was most anticipated.

This is just a random set of images that give a flavour of this incredible place.

One Golf Course and three Woodpeckers

Keene NH
While spending a few days with friends last summer during a holiday to New England I was able to Spend a couple of evenings walking the Brentwood Golf Course to do a spot of birding.
Plenty of smart birds around such as Eastern Bluebirds, Belted Kingfisher and Grey Catbird but I was particularly pleased to see three Woodpecker species.

Yellow Bellied Sapsucker

Saigon Post Office

Liz and I did a short tour of Saigon, Southern Vietnam and Cambodia in 2017.

We started off in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City if you prefer).

The Saigon Central Post Office is a post office in the downtown area of Ho Chi Minh City, near Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica, the city's cathedral.

The building was constructed when Vietnam was part of French Indochina in the late 19th century.

Its one of the most iconic buildings in Saigon

Asian Barred Owlet

In the ancient city of Angkor, Cambodia 2017

Was getting late as we raced to get to Ta Prohm before it got dark but I was stopped in my tracks by this lovely Owlet.

Belted Kingfisher

I stayed with friends near Keene NH  for a few days last summer. I was able to walk the local Bretwood Golf Course a couple of times and got to see some great birds such as Eastern Bluebird, Yellow Bellied Sapsucker and this magnificent Belted Kingfisher.

Not surprisingly the best birding of the week was while on the Golf Course and the surrounding area.
