Oil on Canvas .....a photo effect

Just been playing around... its either that or watching Coronation Street

This is a heavy crop of an Avocet image I took a while ago in Norfolk and have just stylised it to an artists oil painting effect. Its not to everyones taste... not sure its mine to be honest but you dont know until you try!

here is the original image

Comments both good or bad are most welcome on this please

I love it Dave it's really well worth sharing.
I am so amazed at what the digital age has brought to us...

I think I prefer reality Dave. If you're going to paint it, do it!! If not give us a clear photo including its surroundings. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.

Reality? I guess it has its value. However, pictures are not reality. Taking a marginal picture and toying with it inside photoshop makes perfect sense. I pump up my "Realistic" pictures all the time, it's what your supposed to do! Point and shoot cameras increase sharpness and brighten colors automatically. With Dslr's we get to make those choices ourselves. To produce something impressionistic is called creative license, drive on brother! I'd like to see more of it.

Such a lovely bird, Dave! I really like the tight crop that you chose for your interpretive image!

I think it's cool Dave. I love American Avocets but have never seen a Pied Avocet. Thanks for broadening my perspective!
