A post dedicated to the wonderful Penguins at Boulders Beach, South Africa.
Part of the colony... hunkered down in the shade
A fledgling.... a little sad looking
.......... and now a little happier
juvenile
the breeding season continues throughout the year so its possible to see juveniles in more advanced states of pre-adult plumage
Adult in the bush and close to its nest
Beach Buddies
preening after a swim
walk this way!
and just posing
they get everywhere

just so awkwardly adorable! :)
How fabulous! I don't suppose I'll ever see a penguin in the wild. The whole post brought a smile to my face, but the last image rounded it off beautifully. Thank you.
I don't think its possible to look at a picture of a penguin without thinking about adding a caption!
Great birds!

Brilliant birds to see...
A great series of photos and wonderful to see them that close.
Another great series. Funny how penguins are often associated with ice and snow only.
I never thought of penguins having so much personality, I LOVE this posts. The little sad one just captured my heart.
A fun post!
Who knew waddling could be so cute.
Beach buddies made me smile.
oh, they're a very beautiful penguin too; lovely photos Dave
Hi What a wonderful post with fantastic photographs. Loved them.
Adorable birds and photos!
I've been there. What a place! Love the new blog header, gorgeous close-up!
They're so cute! I started hearing Aerosmith's "Walk this way" in my head when I read your caption.
Great post!
Loved your photos! And that last picture of a sign. Very interesting post!
Great shots of penguin. Very cute.
Now if those are not just the absolute sweetest little guys I have seen this day...the little sad baby and so glad it cheered up...they are all absolutely wonderful Dave!
What is it about penguins Dave whereby we humans always treat them as slightly comical yet they are a serious bird, threatened in,many cases? Love your shots.
So darn cute!
This is the closest I've ever been to penguins in the wild, Dave. And you captured such a range of development and "poses". I saw some young in New Zealand many years ago but not very close up. Thanks for this better view.
you have to love this little penguin. Så adorable. And I hope you checked under the car. :)
Wonderful photos, and I love your running commentary in the captions.
