Silkmen Legends Vs FA Premier All Stars

A fund raiser to help Macclesfield Town FC. It has been well documented locally of the financial plight of my Football club (for my North American Readers ..... Soccer Club).

Only a few months ago things were so financially desperate that even starting the season wasn't a given, even now we are far from turning this around, but every event, every penny earned, every penny donated helps keep us going and it seems that month by month we are only just keeping afloat. Lots of hard work from within the club has given the loyal fans at least some hope..... anyway onto the more positive aspects.

Todays game was between Ex Macclesfield players from the Eighties, Nineties and the naughties... versus Ex Premiership players of the last twenty years that graced the greatest football league competition in the world. (Some would argue that graced is a little OTT..... depending where your footballing loyalty's lie)

Steve Burr, Phil Power, Neil Sorvel and Steve Wood may not roll off the tongue to non followers of Macclesfield Town but to the clubs fans these are real legends and an integral part of our clubs history. While in contrast Bryan Robson, Terry Phelan, Frank Sinclair and Matt Jansen are a little more well known across the footballing world.

To the game..... the result really didn't matter but the Macclesfield Town Legends won 5-2.

Let's hope they survive Dave... as a Northwich Vics follower (rather than supporter these days) I know all about the problems small town clubs face.

Good to see that some stars are putting back into grassroots football. I do wonder how these smaller clubs keep going - I have a bit of a fondness for Bristol City.

Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne.

PS; I almost feel well today - thankfully!
